Performance Optimization

Slow computer? We remove bloatware, optimize startup, upgrade RAM or SSD, and tune your OS so your machine runs like new again.

Overview

A slow computer costs you time every single day. Usually the cause is a mix of things: too many programs starting up, a full or ageing hard drive, too little memory, outdated software or unwanted programs running in the background.

We find out what's actually slowing your machine down and fix it, whether that's a software clean-up or a hardware upgrade that gives an older computer years of extra life.

What's included

  • Startup and background process clean-up
  • Removal of bloatware, trial software and unwanted toolbars
  • Malware and adware checks
  • Storage clean-up and drive health check
  • RAM upgrade recommendations and installation
  • Hard drive to SSD upgrade, with your system and files moved across
  • Operating system, driver and browser updates and tuning
  • Before-and-after check so you can see the difference

Frequently asked questions

Will an SSD really make a difference?

For a computer that still uses a traditional spinning hard drive, moving to an SSD is usually the single biggest speed improvement you can make. Startup and app launches become much faster.

How much RAM do I need?

It depends on how you use the computer. For everyday office work and browsing, 8 GB is a sensible minimum today, and 16 GB is comfortable for heavier multitasking. We'll check what your machine supports.

Can this be done remotely?

Software clean-up and tuning can usually be done through a secure remote session. Hardware upgrades need hands-on work.

Is my old computer worth upgrading?

We'll give you an honest answer. Sometimes an upgrade makes sense; sometimes replacing the machine is better value.
